“Divine Savior gives people who enjoy small town living easy access to healthcare without having to drive far.”

Dr. Katie Murphy is a Board Certified Physician in our Emergency Medicine Department. A native of Middleton, Wisconsin, she earned her undergrad degree from the University of Wisconsin and her medical degree at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. After completing her Emergency Medicine Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, she began her career in Emergency Medicine at the Irwin Army Community Hospital in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Dr. Murphy proudly served 11 years in the US Army and was promoted to Major in her last year of active duty service.

Dr. Murphy enjoys the challenges of working in emergency medicine and finds it especially rewarding when patients that she has resuscitated return with their families to say thank you and let her know they are doing well.

She gets a great deal of satisfaction from watching medical students and physician assistant students that she’s taught and mentored go on to become competent and compassionate providers.

“I also enjoy the collaboration and camaraderie between the ED, EMS, and consultants,” she says.

In her free time, Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves being outdoors. Her hobbies include hiking, fishing, snowboarding, traveling, biking, physical fitness, country dancing, and reading mystery novels.
