Congratulations to the Divine Savior Healthcare Medical Imaging department and their recent accomplishments!

Divine Savior Healthcare Medical Imaging has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in four different modalities: ultrasound, computed tomography CT, mammography, and magnetic resonance imaging MRI as the result of an extensive review by the American College of Radiology ACR.

A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.

How did they receive this?

The ACR accreditation is a process one must take upon themselves to apply. Director of Medical Imaging Eric Justus did just that. He knew what his team was capable of achieving, setting high standards and successfully completing the application process for the four services within the Medical Imaging department.

“It’s not common to have four modalities accredited by the ACR,” shares Justus. “It is because of the staff who are here that made this possible. It was a team effort to reach this accomplishment, and I thank our dedicated team for doing so.”

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards, following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.

The ACR, founded in 1924, is a professional medical society dedicated to serving patients and society by empowering radiology professionals to advance the practice, science and professions of radiological care. The College serves more than 37,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

What’s next?

Justus states, “This isn’t the end. It’s going to take continued teamwork and ongoing efforts to stay accredited and maintain the high level of standards we set for Divine Savior Medical Imaging. Every three years we will go through the accreditation process. We will continue to represent our ACR gold seal and always look for ways to provide the best medical services.”
