Athletic Trainer to be Honored

The Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association (GLATA) will honor Supervisor of Rehabilitation Services at Divine Savior Healthcare, Steve Allison with the GLATA Dedicated Service Award. Mr. Allison has been instrumental in assisting with the Third Party Pilot Reimbursement project where GLATA had the only three states involved in the pilot project. Steve served as the implementation lead during that pilot project. He currently serves as the National Athletic Trainers Association Third Party Reimbursement Project, Implementation Lead. Steve’s impact in the advancing the athletic training profession through third party reimbursement is profound.


The Dedicated Service Award is given to an individual(s) who have demonstrated a superior level of excellence in managing and completing project(s) assigned by the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association Executive Committee, with the goal and outcome of creating a positive image of the GLATA and/or who have assisted the Executive Committee in furthering the goals and vision of the GLATA Leadership.

Formal criteria for the Dedicated Service Award include:

  • Nominees must be active members of the GLATA for at least five (5) years.
  • Nominees must have chaired or directed a specific initiative to further the goals of the GLATA.
  • Nominees must have taken direction and created a positive image for the GLATA while assisting the GLATA EC with its vision.
  • Nominees must have demonstrated measurable outcomes of their efforts. This may be in the form of a new program or initiative, print materials, educational experiences, etc.
  • Nominees must have shown evidence of involving and leading other members in the process of developing the project.

GLATA is a professional membership association for athletic trainers and athletic training students in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The association strives to enhance the quality of health care for the physically active, promote the athletic trainer and advance the profession of athletic training through education and research in the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries.


Mr. Allison will be honored on the evening of March 14th, 2019, before a group of his peers, during the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association Awards Ceremony.
