MY STORY

"I am always looking out for the best interest of the patient: always a nurse first, then a CRNA."

— Mark Labor, CRNA Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

Mark Labor joined Divine Savior Healthcare in 2008. After earning his Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of Vermont, Mark continued on for his Masters of Science in Nursing at the State University of New York. From there, he graduated from the Nurse Anesthesia Program in Buffalo, New York before adding his talents to our community.

Mark is also an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber and a member of both the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and Wisconsin Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

"Always keep a positive attitude. Be consistent," Mark said when asked about the best advice he has ever been given.

Growing up in Newport, VT proved to be a very similar lifestyle to the one he has here now living in Madison. "Wisconsin in general is very much like Vermont," he tells us. "Just without the mountains!"

If it wasn't for his current field, Mark would likely be a sailing instructor or spend his time working on computers.

Growing up with the influence of his two parents who were both in the medical field, it was easy to see how he transitioned into nurse anesthesia. As a cancer survivor, Mark knows personally what it is like to be on the receiving end of medical treatment and the influence is apparent with his optimistic and caring attitude.

"Getting folks through really stressful times with flying colors is the most rewarding part of my career," Mark tells us.

Off the clock Mark enjoys sailing, biking and perfecting his own home brewing. You never know, you just might see Mark on another sailboat crew someday much like the one which he raced from Florida to Bermuda. As an overachiever, you can bet he took first place!
