Divine Savior Hospital is proud to introduce AirStrip OB, a state-of-the-art app which is used to monitor women while they are in labor. Divine Savior Healthcare is the first hospital in Wisconsin to incorporate this cutting-edge technology into our services.
Board-certified
OB/GYN Dr. Erik Schulte of Divine Savior Healthcare uses the app, called AirStrip OB, to further monitor his patients when he is not directly by their side. When a patient is in labor, Dr. Schulte can check her contractions, her dilation, monitor the baby's heartbeat, and see any complications right on his phone.
"It's like you're right there monitoring everything right then and there," Dr. Schulte states.
Dr. Schulte said Airstrip OB is not only completely secure, but it's approved by the FDA and is HIPAA compliant to ensure our patients’ confidentiality.
The increased supervision of the patient’s care, and that of their unborn child, could be considered priceless by patients who are in need of additional monitoring.
Nelly Platt, a recent patient at the Divine Savior Birthing Center, recently chose to give birth to her son Mark at Divine Savior.
"I noticed when Dr. Schulte came in he always seemed to know what was going on,” Platt said. After asking him about this, he explained the new phone app to her.
The added security allowed her to feel much more comfortable, Platt said, especially when things deviated from what she had expected.
"I did have a little bit of complications at the end and knowing that app, when the heart rate dropped and I saw it on the monitor that it was dropping, they were in here instantly taking care of me and the baby," Platt said.
According to Dr. Schulte, medical staff can respond more quickly and efficiently with the app. Rather than relying on a stationary computer to log in and then find and access patient information, the doctors and nurses can know what is going on with their patients at all times, no matter their location.
"The turnaround time, everything was faster,” Platt said. “I didn't have to wait as long for answers. It was just instant." Questions about AirStrip OB can be directed to the Divine Savior Healthcare
