The Divine Savior Healthcare Sports Medicine team is pleased to offer a new series for coaches and athletes of all ages this summer-Train to Play. The series will focus on athletic development, injury prevention techniques and core muscle strengthening through informational seminars and sports clinics with Divine Savior Healthcare's Sports Medicine staff.

The series will kick off with a "Dynamic Strength and Conditioning" seminar on Wednesday, April 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

"This seminar is designed to enhance athletic performance and prevent injury to athletes of all ages, activities and abilities," says Matt Bekkedal, Divine Savior athletic trainer and seminar leader. "We'll go over expert tips for coaches and athletes at the middle school, high school and adult level."

The presentation will include a detailed discussion of coaching methods and scientific principles related to strength and conditioning, and each participant will receive comprehensive descriptions of the exercises and programs covered. Bekkedal will present strength and conditioning tips, and techniques that do not require extensive strength training equipment. In addition, Divine Savior Athletic Trainers Steve Allison, Jason Cerkoney and Krista Thompson will make special appearances during the April 18 seminar.
