Divine Savior Healthcare's Audiology Department is pleased to offer free hearing screenings on Wednesday, May 17, in recognition of Better Speech and Hearing Month.
For over 75 years May has been designated as Better Speech and Hearing Month - a time to raise public awareness, knowledge and understanding of the various forms of communication impairments that affect hearing, speech, language and voice. Communication impairments affect the most vulnerable in our society - the young, the aged, the disabled and the poor.
Divine Savior Healthcare's free screenings will be completed between 1 and 4 p.m., and appointments will be made in 15-minute intervals. Call (608) 745-6290 today to schedule your appointment.
You may have a hearing loss if you:
· Frequently ask people to repeat themselves
· Often turn your ear toward a sound to hear it better
· Understand people better when you wear your glasses or look directly at their faces
· Lose your place in group conversations
· Keep the volume on your radio or TV at a level that others say is too loud
· Have pain or ringing in your ears
An estimated 28 million Americans have a hearing loss that can be treated, and yet fewer than 7,000,000 use a hearing aid. You could be one of them. Now is a good time to take stock of your own hearing and seek help if you think you may have a problem.
Please note: Screenings should be completed if you do not have a known hearing loss, or think that your hearing has changed. A screening will determine if your hearing is within normal limits; it does not take the place of a complete audiological assessment. If you do not pass the screening, we will recommend a follow-up appointment for a complete hearing test. If you choose to follow that recommendation, the test would be scheduled for another date.
To schedule an appointment for a FREE hearing screening on May 17, please call (608) 745-6290 or stop by the Audiology Department at Divine Savior Healthcare in Suite 103.
