In an effort to continue to educate our community about breast cancer and the importance of self-exams and mammograms, Divine Savior Healthcare is proud to bring the community a fun and educational event.

Divine Savior Healthcare is working with the Pink Ribbon Angels to bring this event to our community. The Breast Cancer Awareness and Education Event will take place behind Divine Savior Healthcare on Sunday, October 12 from 1:00 - 4:00.

Community members are encouraged to come out and enjoy free food, drinks and entertainment.  Divine Savior Healthcare Mammography Techs will be available to answer questions, give tours of the Women's Suite and mammography equipment, and schedule mammograms.  Pink Ribbon Angels members will be on hand to provide information about breast cancer screening and the financial assistance they are able to provide to those in need.  Activities include:

1:00 - 4:00      Face Painting (provided by Portage High School Art Club)
1:30                 Pink Costume Contest for Children
2:00 - 3:00      Performance by members of the UW Marching Band
3:15                 Dedication of the Tree of Hope

"The goal of this event is to bring awareness to our community about breast cancer, provide hope to those dealing with this disease and to remember those we have lost," states Pink Ribbon Angel President Michele Kornaus. "Pink Ribbon Angels is a non-profit organization that works to provide financial assistance to Columbia County residents with breast cancer to help cover uninsured out-of-pocket expenses incurred during cancer diagnosis and treatment. The group also provides financial assistance for expenses related to awareness and detection measures. This event is a great way to work with our partners at Divine Savior to raise awareness about breast cancer."

"This event is a great opportunity for families to come down to our facility and learn about what Divine Savior Healthcare is doing to help community members prevent and treat breast cancer, states Divine Savior Healthcare CEO Mike Decker. "Kids can come down and participate in face painting and the costume contest, adults can get important information about self-exams, mammography and financial assistance and the whole family can bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the UW Marching Band and free food and drink. Individuals are also encouraged to put a message on a pink ribbon and tie it to our Tree of Hope to remember, honor or celebrate those who have been affected by breast cancer"

Divine Savior Healthcare has also partnered with the Pink Ribbon Angels to bring several opportunities for free mammograms to individuals with limited financial resources in October.  Mammogram Techs have reserved hours on each Wednesday in October for women who would like to receive a free mammogram - the cost of which is paid for entirely by the Pink Ribbon Angels. Columbia County residents are encouraged to call 608-745-6295 to take advantage of this opportunity, as appointments are limited.
