Are You Ready for Winter? It doesn’t matter if you love it or hate it, you know it is coming. Winter in Wisconsin is packed with days of sledding and ice fishing, skiing and snowmobiling. But winter also brings snowstorms and bone-shaking wind chills.
November 4-9 2012 is Winter Awareness Week across Wisconsin. It is a great time to make sure you and your family are prepared for winter conditions that could threaten your safety.
The most important thing you can do is create an emergency supply kit for your car. It could save your life because you never know when you might be stranded in a storm. You’ll need to take care of yourself and your passengers until help arrives. Your kit should include:
- Blankets or sleeping bags
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- First-aid kit
- Shovel, booster cables and windshield scraper
- Non-perishable food like raisins and energy bars
- Water
- Sand or cat litter for traction
- Cell phone adapter
Divine Savior Healthcare would like to thank the State of Wisconsin Division of Emergency Management for this timely winter reminder. For more information on how to get a kit and make an emergency plan please visit
