Divine Savior Healthcare is excited to host an evening dedicated to your health and wellness with a class designed to energize your mission toward improved health in 2007: 10 Tips for Terrific Health.
Julia Persike, a Divine Savior wellness instructor with 15 years experience in health and wellness promotion, will lead the program. Persike uses the SPECIES model of wellness to highlight some of the spiritual, physical, emotional, career, intellectual, environmental and social factors influencing an individual's overall well-being.
"The program is designed to provide tips on all dimensions of wellness to paint a well-rounded picture of how daily choices affect your health," Persike says. "We'll also focus on three core areas - stress management, exercise and healthy snacking."
She adds that portion control and finding the right snack is a challenge for many trying to balance a healthy diet with a busy lifestyle. The program will include snack samples to taste test, providing an example of healthy portions and snack options.
"Our goal is to help community members ease into positive health choices," says Kari Due, Divine Savior Health Educator. "We know a lot of people truly want to make changes in their daily lives that will improve their overall health, but it can be overwhelming if you don't know where to start. This class provides realistic tools and tips to help make that transition a little less daunting, and a lot more fun."
In addition to a positive environment and useful ideas, attendees will receive handouts and participation prizes, and all will be eligible for door prizes.
