“The most rewarding aspect of my career is patient education. I enjoy educating patients about lifestyle modifications.”
–Tristin Suhonen, PA-C
Tristin Suhonen, Physician Assistant, is an enthusiastic member of Divine Savior Healthcare’s Urgent Care team. A faster pace and sudden surprises is something Tristin has never run away from. His military service was a prerequisite for what career he would be taking later in his life.
Tristin was influenced to go into the professional medical field after his service in the United States Marine Corps. During his two tours in Iraq, he served as a Combat Aidsmen where he provided medical combat care to his unit alongside his Battalion Corpsman.
“If I wasn’t working in the medical field I would still be in the USMC,” Tristin tells us.
The similarities are striking though, with Marine Combat Aidsmen receiving training to ‘stop the bleeding, start the breathing, cover the wound, treat for shock.’
Born in Canada, Tristin Suhonen moved around to many different places, including smaller towns like Portage. Although he lives in Madison at the time, he appreciates the quietness of the local area and all it offers.
When he’s not working, Tristin enjoys triathlon training in swimming, biking and running. In addition to numerous other triathlons, he recently participated in the Ironman Wales 2011.
“The best advice I was ever given was ‘If at first you don’t succeed…,’” Tristin says. |
