“I like to see patients as complete human beings, not just their diagnosis.”
-Brian Dodd, PA-C
Brian Dodd graduated from the Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Medicine. The following year he completed a Physician Assistant Surgical Residency at Spectrum Health/ Western Michigan University.
Brian holds additional certifications and licenses as well and has contributed to a biochemistry publication entitled “A desalting approach for MALDI-MS using on-probe hydrophobic self-assembled monolayers,” through the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia.
Growing up in the Downriver Detroit area of Michigan, similarities went about as far as the seasons that change.
“I like the lakes and wildlife here. I also like the less hectic nature of living outside a major city,” Brain says.
After joining the U.S. Army at the age of 17, Brian chose a medical job in the operating room on a whim. It was this initial introduction to medicine which has kept him in the field even to this day.
“If I wasn’t in the medical field I would be in a profession where I was helping people,” Brian says. “I enjoy interacting with people and somehow being of assistance. I believe people would be comforted to know how much the average doctor really cares about caring for patients.”
Prior to his arrival at Divine Savior Healthcare, Brian worked in neurosurgery for about ten years. Currently working alongside Dr. Foskett, he is now assisting in the field of orthopedics.
“Divine Savior Healthcare has a consistent, caring, professional medical service with an emphasis on the whole person,” Brain tells us. “It’s rewarding to be a part of a successful time of care in a patient’s life that allows them to return to an active life.”
Brian and his wife of over 20 years enjoy traveling. Local parks such as Devil’s Lake and Mirror Lake have also caught their eye for hiking. When he has the free time, Brian enjoys reading about science and philosophy as well.
“Do what you have the most passion for. The friends you want and the one you will marry will also be there,” Brian recommends. |
