“Treat people how you would like to be treated.”
-Dr. Josh Pogorelec

The choice to work in Portage was a family decision for Dr. Josh Pogorelec. He and his wife, also a practicing physician here at Divine Savior Healthcare, made the decision together to join our community as members of the Divine Savior Healthcare team.

Dr. Pogorelec was raised in Massillon, Ohio, a town larger than Portage, WI. Throughout the years, he was introduced to the field of medicine by his father, a family practice physician. The impression stuck, and Dr. Pogorelec made the decision to join the medical field himself.

After earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology, Dr. Pogorelec continued his education in Kirksville, Missouri where he acquired his Masters of Health Administration. He then made the decision to continue on for his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. That choice led not only to his current career, but introduced him to his future wife and resulting children.

Dr. Pogorelec and his wife began practicing medicine in his home town in Ohio. After the completion of his General Surgery Internship and Residency, the two chose Divine Savior Healthcare as their home.

“Divine Savior Healthcare offers the area not only excellent medical care, but compassion,” Dr. Pogorelec says. “I personally try and treat all of my patients as if they were members of my own family.”

Today, Dr. Josh Pogorelec is a talented member of the General Surgery team where he uses his talents to provide compassionate care to our community. He is certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

“It’s very rewarding to help people get better,” he tells us. “I chose medicine because of my desire to improve the quality of life for others. I also enjoy the complexity and variety involved in this area of medicine.”

Dr. Pogorelec’s personal interests include spending time with his family and two children, as well as outdoor activities like hunting, fishing and boating.
