“I know that sometimes it’s the ‘little things’ that make a difference, saying hi in the grocery store or asking about non-medical issues in our patient’s lives. Those things matter.”
-Dr. Jill Pogorelec
Dr. Jill Pogorelec is with us as a board certified osteopathic physician in Divine Savior Healthcare’s Family Practice department. Dr. Pogorelec received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine- A.T. Still University, in Kirksville, Missouri. After practicing medicine in Ohio, Dr. Pogorelec and her husband, general surgeon Dr. Josh Pogorelec
, made the decision to move to the area with their family to work alongside one another at Divine Savior Healthcare.
Dr. Pogorelec appreciates the area and how similar Portage is to her home town of Lindstrom, Minnesota.
“The similarities are why I like it,” Dr. Pogorelec tells us. “The only big difference is that I was
a Vikings fan!”
If not for the inspiration of her family doctor and other doctors in the community, Dr. Pogorelec believes that she would be working for her father as a cement paving road contractor.
Dr. Pogorelec admires the mission of Divine Savior Healthcare and feels they have a valuable contribution to the area.
“It’s a community hospital,” Dr. Pogorelec says. “They still have the best interest of the patient in mind and aren’t looking to make a quick buck. Divine Savior Healthcare is looking to provide health care.”
Dr. Pogorelec enjoys the people who are in the area and the many opportunities which are presented for outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing. She also enjoys cooking, travel, attempting to water ski and spending time with her husband and two children.
