Our Services - Diagnostic Imaging
The most up-to-date technology for preventive care and diagnostic imaging is right here, right now – at Divine Savior Healthcare. That makes treatment fast and convenient for you, or your family. Our outstanding certified technologists are available to perform a wide range of diagnostic procedures, most 24-hours a day.
Patients requiring imaging procedures need a referral and order from their physician. Routine studies are scheduled in advance; emergency procedures are performed as requested. Appointments for outpatient work are necessary and can be made by calling (608) 745-5020.
Some imaging procedures require preparation. These instructions usually are given to you by your physician’s office, but instructions can also be received when you schedule your appointment. If you have any questions regarding preparation, you can call (608) 745-5020.
Medical Imaging Procedures
General Diagnostic Radiography
This routine x-ray procedure is used to study many areas, including traditional bone x-rays, upper gastrointestinal pyelogram and barium enemas.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
MRI is a powerful and advanced diagnostic tool which uses a combination of magnetic fields and a powerful magnet to create images of your body. This provides detailed information needed by a physician to diagnose your condition.
Bone Densitometry
Your bone density measurement (BMD) is compared with adult average normals for your sex and race at their peak BMD. This information helps your doctor determine if you need to take certain steps to protect your bone health.
Computerized Tomography (CT Scans)
CT scans create images of your body using a special scanner and computer.
Unlike standard x-rays, CT scans take pictures of “slices” of the body and allow the radiologist to view the anatomy in a special way to make a diagnosis. Divine Savior Healthcare is proud to be one of the only rural medical facilties in the state to have a 64-slice CT scanner, providing faster, higher-quality images with a lower x-ray dose.
PET/CT Scans
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and CT are both standard imaging tools that allow physicians to pinpoint the location of cancer within the body before making treatment recommendations. PET/CT scans are used to determine the extent of disease; determine the location of disease for biopsy, surgery or treatment planning; assess the response to and effectiveness of treatments; detect residual or recurrent disease; and may assist in avoiding invasive diagnostic procedures.
Sonograms
Sonograms are studies done with high frequency sound waves called ultrasound. When the ultrasound is directed at various body organs, some of the sound waves bounce back and are assigned a shade of gray, which is then shown on the computer screen, creating an image.
Mammograms
Mammograms are used to detect abnormalities of breast tissue. We provide both screening and diagnostic mammograms. Divine Savior Healthcare is proud to be the first hospital in the area to use the R2 ImageChecker for its mammograms. The R2 ImageChecker assists radiologists as a "second pair of eyes" by analyzing patterns in the mammogram and marking areas that appear suspicious. In addition, Divine Savior provides a new product that dramatically eases the discomfort many women feel when they get a mammogram. The FDA-cleared foam cushion, called MammoPad®, creates a softer, warmer mammogram. The recyclable breast cushion is “invisible” to X-rays and does not interfere with the image quality of the mammogram.
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine is used to diagnose diseases of the heart. Unlike an x-ray machine, a nuclear gamma camera does not project a radiation beam; it detects radiation that is emitted by the radio pharmaceutical agent which is injected into the patient. These rays are captured and converted to light photos which are then conveyed to a computer processor that analyzes pulses and displays the information on the computer monitor. A radiologist or cardiologist interprets the results.
